Cresco - LaVonne Ruth (Lein) Clink, age 90, passed away on Dec. 1, 2018 at The Good Samaritan Society - Bethany Nursing Home in Brainerd, Minn.
Funeral services for LaVonne will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, Minn. Burial will be on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fremont Cemetery, rural Cresco, Iowa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Pequot Lakes.LaVonne was born on Sept. 29, 1928 in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Arthur and Hilda Sophia (Bjerke) Lein. She attended school in Lyons, S.D. through the 10th grade, graduated from school at Sherburn, Minn., attended a year of trade school in Minneapolis, Minn. and worked for Allied Roofing Company.
LaVonne and Charles Carol Clink were united in marriage on Sept. 2, 1951 at the Fremont Lutheran Church. They farmed in Winneshiek County, Iowa. Together they had eight children.
LaVonne worked as a teacher’s aide in the Howard-Winneshiek School District in Cresco, from 1973-1978. The couple owned and operated Twin Points Resort at Pequot Lakes. LaVonne lived on Mayo Lake for 27 years, employed in housekeeping at Breezy Point Resort and in the kitchen of the State Hospital in Brainerd.
Then she resided in Pequot Lakes from 2005-2016, Good Samaritan Woodland Assisted Living and Good Samaritan-Bethany Nursing Home in Brainerd, until her death.
LaVonne enjoyed participating in the circle at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, quilting, “Stretch and Pray” and all church activities.
Her home was filled with large family gatherings, good food, lots of love and laughter. Her greatest joy was spending time fishing, reading books and playing board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
LaVonne is survived by seven children, Ruthie (Dave) Fritcher, David (Julie) Clink, Donnie (Nelda) Clink, Dale (Brenda) Clink, Dwain (Ruth) Clink, Dean (Monica) Clink, Daryl (Stacy) Clink and Danny (Mary) Clink; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Audrey and Jan Lein.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents, Art and Sophie; in-laws, Bill and Nora Clink; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Brenda Clink; grandsons, Scott and Aaron Clink; and brothers, Glen and Bob Lein.
