Dies of Sheer Hunger.
Anamosa, Iowa, Aug. 1.—F. Olsen, convict 4372, died at the prison hospital in this city Thursday evening, the 28th inst. His death was a singular case of suicide, that of voluntary starvation. During the last nine months of his life Olsen steadily refused sustenence of any kind and was kept alive only by artifical{sic} means administered by those professionally and humanely inclined. He was received from Winneshiek county, December 11, 1899, and owing to the “good time" to his credit, would have been discharged September 8, next, the original sentence being seven years.
