Dangerously Injured by a Bull.
John Grinhaug lies in a critical condition at his home a few miles northeast of town as the result of injuries received from an ugly bull. Last Monday he let a bull out to pasture which bad been kept up nearly all spring, and about eight o’clock in the evening went out to put him in the barn and was attacked by the animal. He was first struck in the abdomen and thrown in the air and then, as no one was about to help, was badly bruised and trampled upon before he could escape. If the bull had not been dehorned, Mr. Grinhaug would have been killed on the spot. As it is, peritonitis has set in and his recovery is very doubtful, depending much on the extent of the internal injuries received. He is being attended by Drs. Roome, Ahern and Kessel.

John Grenhaug, whose serious injuries we recorded in laft{sic} issue, died on Saturday morning and was buried the day following.

Transcrier’s Note: The name is spelled two different ways; however, his gravestone in Eddy Cemetery shows Grinhaug and also that he was born in 1860.

While driving the cattle from pasture Monday last John Grinhaug, living southwest of town, was attacked by an infuriated bull and so badly hurt that he died Saturday morning. Drs. Kessel, Roome and Ahern were called, but could do nothing but relieve his suffering as much as possible. All that kind and loving neighbors and friends could do was done but death came Saturday morning. This case is unusually sad as he leaves a wife and seven children, the oldest only twelve years of age. The wife and family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. The funeral was held at his home Sunday afternoon, and in spite of the rain there was a large crowd of sympathizing friends present. The interment was in the Eddy cemetery west of town.
