Edwin L. Molokken, 96, of West Union, Iowa died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society, West Union, Iowa. Edwin LaVerne was born on May 29, 1922 in rural Clermont to Andrew and Julia (Kleppe) Molokken. He was baptized June 25, 1922 and confirmed October 14, 1936 at First Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, Iowa. Edwin attended Dover 6 Country School.

After serving our country in the United States Army during World War II, Edwin returned home to the family farm. Edwin was united in marriage with Eleanor Baumler on July 26, 1948. To this union four children were born. Edwin truly loved working the land and raising animals. He was blessed with a big green thumb and it showed in his gardening and love of flowers. In 1974 Edwin downsized his farming operation to a small cow/calf herd. He worked off the farm for Seitz Brothers Construction for several years. Edwin then worked for the West Union Country Club as a grounds keeper.

Eleanor passed away May 18, 1992 and later that year Edwin moved to West Union. On January 9, 1999 he married Mabel Gullickson. After retirement he and Mabel liked to travel, taking many one and two day trips. They loved going to many dances. He honed his wood working skills, turning out many beautiful furniture pieces, which became cherished gifts to many family members. Edwin was a member of First Lutheran Church, St. Peter Lutheran Church and The Clermont American Legion.

Survivors include his children, JoAnn Melver of Haines City, Florida, Ed W. (Arlene) Molokken of West Union, Iowa, Jeff (Diane) Molokken of West Union, Iowa and Steve Molokken of Portland, Oregon; Mabel’s children, Bernice (Roger) Winter of Calmar, Iowa, Jan (Ron) Helgerson of Marion, Iowa, Lyle (Cheryl) Gullickson of Kansas City, Missouri, Marilyn (Tony) Brinks of Ossian, Iowa, Don (Linda) Gullickson of Monona, Iowa and Bruce (Marcia) Gullickson of Ossian, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Julia Molokken; his wives, Eleanor and Mabel; three brothers, Levi, Arthur and Melvin Molokken; sister, Donna Seitz; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado, Iowa with Rev. Ginny OIson as the Officiant.

Burial with Military Rites will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Ossian, Iowa.
