GEORGE W. MCKAY.
This old resident of Winneshiek Co. died at the Stiles House in this city last Friday evening and was buried at Postville. He came here to attend the funeral of Capt. E. I. Weiser and was then seriously ill, was taken worse, and lingered until death came to his release. Deceased was the second son of James D. McKay, and came to this county with his parents, in 1851. He enlisted in Co. D, 3d Iowa infantry, and was the first Orderly Sergeant of that company. After the close of the war he engaged in the agricultural implement business, and for a number of years was a resident of Minneapolis and in the employ of the harvester company of that city. We are without any exact data as to his life. He had been a victim of a kidney difficulty for a number of years.
