Obituary.
Cyrus Eugene, oldest son of J. W. and E. J. Spriggs, was born Dec. 17th, 1870, in Bluffton, Winneshiek county, Iowa, and died Feb. 8, 1902, at Woden, la , aged 31 years 1 month and 21 days. The funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. J. Gammons assisted by Rev. Hall. Two sisters preceded him to the spirit world.

Oh! How helpless we are
When the Death Angel comes
And we know that the loved one
Has gone from our home;
How useless our pleadings.
When death claims his own,
And the spirit of earth
Forever has flown.
