Lyle John Lechtenberg, age 66, of Houston, MN (formally of Fort Atkinson, IA) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on May 18, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Franciscan-Skemp Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 201 Oak Street, Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Kyle Digmann presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 24, 2018 and also after 9:30 a.m., on Friday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, IA.

Lyle was born on November 28, 1951, in New Hampton, IA to Edwin and Lucille (Tillman) Lechtenberg. Lyle attended Saint John’s Catholic School in Fort Atkinson. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in Jackson Junction. Lyle married Sandy Cutsforth on April 22, 1972 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, IA. Together they lived in Fort Atkinson worked at White Farm Equipment in Charles City until he started his career at AcenTek (formally Fort Atkinson Telephone). He moved to Houston, MN in 1998 where he worked as a Customer Support Manager at AcenTek until the time of his death.

While living in Fort Atkinson Lyle was a member of the Fort Atkinson Fire Department, Saint John’s Catholic Church Parish Council, a founding member of the Jackson Heights Golf Course and a member of the Turkey Valley Booster Club. In addition, he participated in Boy Scouts, little league and golf league.

Lyle moved to Houston, MN in 1998 and fulfilled his dream of living on a golf course. He was a member of Valley High Golf Club and participated in two men’s leagues. He was a member of the Valley High Estates Water Corporation and participated in Corvette rally’s. Lyle’s greatest joy was spending time with his beautiful wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes, his time with family and friends, golfing, traveling, being outdoors, restoring his 1978 Corvette and taking drives with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 46 years: daughter Michelle (Harry) Wahl of Harmony, MN, son Todd (Bettie) Lechtenberg of Stewartville, MN; 6 grandchildren: Logan Whitehill, Bryce Whitehill, Nicholas Lechtenberg, Kaden Wahl, Gemma Wahl and Brooklyn Lechtenberg; 7 siblings: Lorraine (Russell) Karnik, Linus (Judy) Lechtenberg, Linda (Dean) Kofoot, Jane (David) Brincks, Joyce (Craig) Numedahl, Leroy (Cathy) Lechtenberg, Judy (Ron) Reynolds; his in-laws: Jim (Phyllis) Cutsforth, Terry Cutsforth (Bonnie), Sheila (Dennis) Koepp, Theresa White; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Lyle was proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lucille Lechtenberg, his brother LaVern Lechtenberg and his in-laws James and Margaret Cutsforth.
