Arlene Fadness, age 81, of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, IA.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Hauge Lutheran Church, 3147 Middle Hesper Road, rural Decorah, with Rev. Richard Simon Hanson presiding.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, IA, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. There will be a V.F.W Auxiliary service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Arlene Ann (Yarwood) Fadness was born on February 22, 1937 the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Roney) Yarwood in Decorah, IA. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1955. Arlene married Raymond Fadness on August 12, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Decorah. Together they had three children: Roger, Ruth and Ronald. She worked at the Montgomery Ward store in Decorah from 1965 until 1978, when it closed. She then worked at Rockwell Collins in Decorah from 1978 until retiring in 1999. Arlene was a member and volunteer at Hauge and First Lutheran Churches in Decorah. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, serving multiple years as president, and was also a board member for the Decorah Kilties Drum & Bugle Corps. She also served on the board of the Depot Outlet, and the Shareholders Committee of the Decorah school district. She enjoyed camping with friends and family and was a wonderful baker who loved spoiling her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her three children: Roger Fadness, Waynesboro, PA; Ruth (Rick) Jones, LaCrosse, WI; and Ron (Marcy) Fadness, Decorah, IA. Seven grandchildren: Luke Fadness, Brooke Fadness, Teagan Fadness, Hannah (Dave) Edwards, Katherine (Travis) Heidelberg, Laurel Fadness and Erick Fadness. Six great grandchildren: Elijah Fadness, Ezekiel Fadness, Hildie Edwards, Dahlia Edwards, Kai Heidelberg and Aurelia Heidelberg. Brothers Dean (Elaine) Yarwood, Kansas City, MO; Curtis (Phyllis) Yarwood, Colorado Springs, CO. One sister-in-law: Belva Fadness, Decorah, IA along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Fadness on May 15, 2014. Parents: Harold and Elsie (Roney) Yarwood. Brothers and sisters: LuVerne (Howard) Johnson, Chuck (Maxine) Yarwood and Arla (Roy) Nesheim. Father and mother-in-law: Erick and Anna (Swenson) Fadness. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Esther Fadness, Arleen (Milton) Young, Norris (Virginia) Fadness, and Harold Fadness.
