Loretta Kalishek services held
Funeral services for Loretta “Lorly” Kalishek of New Hampton were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Protivin. Jody Samo, Carleen, Adams, Jeanie Adams, and Deb Speltz placed the pall. Pallbearers were: Terry Crisman, Jeffrey Crisman, Joel Crisman, D.J. Busta, Robert Busta, Harold Busta, David Busta, Brad Busta, Carew Kalishek, Tyler Kalishek, and Joey Kalishek. Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Loretta, 87, died Friday, February 15, 2002 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton of natural causes.
Loretta K. Kalishek was born November 26, 1914 near Spillville, the daughter of Adolph and Wilhelmina (Harold) Mikesh. She attended Spillville grade school and later Calmar High School graduating in 1933. She then went on to receive her teaching certificate at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. After receiving her teaching certificte{sic} she taught for a short time at a little country school near her parents farm.
On May 10, 1934 she married Clarence Kalishek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. They farmed near Protivin until 1962 when they moved to Protivin. There the couple operated a bar and cafe until retiring in 1974. They moved to the New Hampton area in 1984.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.
She is survived by two daughters: Janis Crisman of Grundy Center and Colleen Busta of Little Turkey; three sons: Clayton, Gary, and Joe all of New Hampton; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Evelyn Swestka of Manchester.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Clarence on November 15, 1994; her parents; and two sisters: Genevieve Mikesh and Mae Kittlesby.
