FORT ATKINSON - Mildred C. Hackman, 82, Fort Atkinson, died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson with Rev. John Moser officiating. Lector will be Marsha Jenkins.
Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson with Larry Busta, Eric Hackman, Mark Hackman, Tammy Reicks, Thomas Sa- belka and Jeff Gerstenkorn as casket bearers.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5 at Chekal Chapel,' Fort Atkinson where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service.
Mildred Catherine Wieling was born Aug. 18, 1919, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Bengfort) Wieling, near Festina. She married Hugo Hackman on Sept. 28, 1937 in Festina. Mildred did housekeeping at the West Union Hospital and cooked at the Fort in Fort Atkinson. They moved to Fort Atkinson in 1972 from Wau-coma. Mildred enjoyed quilting, gardening, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Hugo; two sons, Gerald (Mary) Hackman, Rochester, MN and Ronald (Norma) Hackman, Waucoma; four daughters, Jeannie (Gerald) Pechota, Protivin, Joann (Norbert) Busta, Little Turkey; Norma Sabelka, Lawler and Kathleen Gerstenkorn, Waterloo; one brother, Ralph (Magaline) Wieling, New Hampton; three sisters, Agnes Winter, Ossian, Alma Schaufenbuel, Lawler and Ann Janachek, Calmar; 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Elaine Balk; one brother, Gus Wieling and two sisters, Hilda Lubek and Irene Menne.
