Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2002 for Harvey Biel at Saetersdal Lutheran Church, rural Lime Springs, Iowa with Rev. Linda Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Harvey Biel, 92, passed away at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa on April 15, 2002.
Biel was born on October 27, 1909 at Ridgeway, Iowa, the son of Louis and Amanda (Garms) Biel. He graduated from Cresco High School in 1929. Harvey was united in marriage to Mary Nora Pickett on March 5, 1934. They farmed near Wykoff, Minn, for 10 years and then in Bristol Township, Fillmore County, until they retired in 1986 and moved to Granger where they made their home for retirement. Harvey and Mary found their church home at Saetersdal Lutheran Church, where they both were active since moving to their Bristol home. Besides farming, Harvey found great satisfaction in his shop, refinishing old furniture for a number of years and he also ran the township road patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Granger and six children: Stanley and his wife Lavonne Biel of Arkansaw, Wisc., Clifford and his wife Donna of Mondovi, Wisc., Marian Beiwel and Ference Beiwel of Decorah, Iowa, Cynthia Moore and Nelson Moore of Clinton, Iowa, Julia Kellogg of Liberty, Missouri and Louis and his wife Rosie Biel of DeWitt, Iowa, 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Leo, Royal and Russell, and a granddaughter, Heidi.
