Donations may be made in memory of the girls to a memorial account at Viking State Bank in Decorah.

Avery was born April 10, 2000 the daughter of Earl and RaeAnn (Numedahl) Arneson of Highlandville. She was baptized at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in rural Bluffton and confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church in Highlandville. Avery attended North Winneshiek and Mabel-Canton High School where she is a senior. She was active in choir and FFA. Avery also played softball, volleyball, and her favorite, basketball. Her love for basketball showed on the court. Avery was a member of the Hesper Helpers 4-H club and enjoyed showing pigs at the Winneshiek County Fair. Avery had the honor of being the Mabel-Hesper Steam Engine Queen and had the chance of working with and meeting many wonderful people. Avery also loved working as a CNA at Green Lea Manor. After high school she planned on going into nursing at Northeast Iowa Community College. Avery was a friend to all and lived by her favorite motto; Do all things with kindness.

Aiden was born January 31, 2005 the daughter of Earl and RaeAnn (Numedahl) Arneson in Decorah, IA. She was baptized at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. Aiden attended North Winneshiek School until 6th grade and is a 7th grader at Mabel-Canton School. She was in choir and band at North Winn and in band at Mabel-Canton. Aiden was active in softball, basketball and volleyball. She also enjoyed playing JO volleyball, traveling to different schools and playing different teams. She was a member of the Hesper Helpers 4-H club and liked showing pigs and sheep at the Winneshiek County Fair. Aiden loved to hunt and fish. She was always competing with her brothers on who could get the biggest fish, deer or turkey. Often, she was the winner. Aiden’s bright blue eyes had a twinkle in them every time she smiled. Her plans were to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and become a nurse. The quote “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” fits Aiden to a tee.
