Diedrich Peck 1851-1933
Another of the old pioneers passed to the great beyond last Wednesday evening, when Diedrich Peck died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Julus Brown, north of Ossian. He had reached the age of 82 years.
He was born in Germany February 13, 1851, and at the age of 15 years came to this country in 1866. He was a farmer all his life and in 1910 he retired and made his home in Castalia, where his wife preceded him in death ten years ago. He then made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Herman Gang, and when she died last year he gladly accepted the call of his other daughter, Mrs. Julius Brown to give him a good home.
He is survived by one son, August Peck, and two daughters, Mrs. John DeCou and Mrs. Julius Brown, all of the Ossian vicinity. There are also twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical-Lutheran church in Castalia Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Schmidt officiated. Interment was made in the Castalia cemetery.
