Curtis J. Fjelstul, 82, of Ridgeway, died Friday, April 28, 1995, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held 'Monday, May 1, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, with the Rev. Phillip Olson and Ginny Olson, associate in ministry, officiating. Martha Olson was the organist The congregation sang “Behold A Host,” “Softly and Tenderly” and “What A Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Casket bearers were Leslie Fjelstul, Clifton Fjelstul, Dale Quass, Kenneth Nesvik, Obert Johnson and Harris We- mark. Burial was at the Lincoln Cemetery in Ridgeway. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Curtis Fjelstul was born July 1, 1912, at Ridgeway, the son of John and Karina (Hopperstad) Fjelstul. He attended rural school in Lincoln Township of Winneshiek County. He married Ellen Johnson in Northwood, Sept 10, 1940.
Curtis lived and farmed in rural Ridgeway all his life. He belonged to Lincoln and Peace Lutheran Churches, where he served as a custodian, trustee and usher. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen; two children, Sandra Fjelstul of Minneapolis, Minn., and Curtis Je Roy and Connie Fjelstul of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two grandchildren, David Alan Fjelstul of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kimberly Lynn and Chad De Vries of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and one great-grandchild, Brennan Curtis De Vries of Grand Rapids, Mich.
