Sharon Lee (Wickham) Snitker was born on October 31, 1942 in Postville, IA, the daughter of Fay and Lucille (Jones) Wickham. Sharon was raised by her parents in Postville. She was baptized and confirmed at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. She attended grade school in Castalia and graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1960. On June 8, 1963 she was united in marriage to Grant Snitker Sr. The couple initially made their home in Castalia, IA for ten years until moving to the family farm in Waukon in the fall of 1973. They farmed the land and raised beef, hogs and chickens. Here, they also raised two children, Grant Jr. and Brian and welcomed their six grandchildren. In the early years Sharon also worked as a bank teller at Ossian State Bank, as the bookkeeper for her family business when they owned the Decorah Sales Commission and for a small period of time at the Vesterheim Museum and Pinnacle. Sharon was a woman of strong Christian faith and a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being an active member at Church where she did everything from cleaning to serving as the Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, family vacations, video poker, playing Pictionary with her grandchildren, playing golf barefoot back in the day, watching golf and Iowa sports on TV and especially spoiling her six grandchildren. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. Sharon was well known to have a “sweet tooth” which was always a treat for anyone that entered the front door. The candy dishes were always full. From chocolate cake that melted in your mouth to peanut brittle to toffee to potato salad to meatballs or even 10lb bags of snack mix, you never went hungry at Sharon’s house.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Grant Sr. Two sons: Grant Jr. “Pete” (Paula) Snitker, Owatonna, MN and Brian (Karen) Snitker, Oskaloosa, IA.
