Beloved Young Daughter Called to Her Reward
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Jewell of this city were grieved to hear of the death of their beloved young daughter, Phyllis Byrd, nine years old, who passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31, at five o'clock after a ten days' illness from spinal meningitis and other complications. Everything that medical aid and loving hands could do was done for the beloved child, but all to no avail. She was an unusually bright and lovable little girl, her death being the first break in the happy family circle which casts a gloom of sorrow over the bereaved parents, sisters, Catherine, Betty, Jane, and brother Walter; as well as the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Bucknell and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jewell, and they all have the heartfelt sympathy of everyone in the community in their bereavement.
The funeral services were held at ten o'clock Tuesday mornig from the home. Dr. J.P. Burling of the Congregational Church officiated and interment was in Phelps cemetery.
