Miss. Alice McNevin has been appointed Post Mistress at Plymouth Rock, for the vacancy caused by the death of her mother, Mrs. Mary McNevin, widow of James McNevin. Mrs. McNevin’s maiden name was Murtha, a sister of John F. Murtha. In the 60’s she was one of the popular school teachers of the locality, having taught several terms. In 1869 she was married to Jas. McNevin and at the time of his death the property was considerably encumbered with debt, every dollar of which was paid off before she passed away, showing that she had been possessed of good executive ability. Her daughter is said to be giving good satisfaction, having been virtually in charge of the office during the illness which proceded{sic} the death of her mother.
