Willard Schroeder
Funeral services for Willard Schroeder were held Saturday, Sept. 29, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Willard August Schroeder, son Henry and Sophia (Dahl) Schroeder, was born July 16, 1921 in Winneshiek County near Castalia, Iowa. He died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1990.
He attended the Bloomfield Brick School No. 6 and Postville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned from the service, he attended the VA Vocational Training classes at West Union, Iowa.
On April 25, 1942 he was married to Opal Faye Dennler, Kohoka, MO. They had 2 sons. They lived in the Castalia area for 18 years. In 1962 the family moved to Postville where he was employed by McNeil Feed for a few years and then by the Postville Farmers Cooperative Society.
He is preceded in death by a son, Marvin and an infant brother.
Surviving are his wife, Opal, a son, Robert of Postville, a sister, Florence Meyer of Postville.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, president of the Castalia Senior citizens, and Brotherly Love Lodge NO. 204, presently serving as Chaplain. He had also been a member of the V.F.W. in Decorah and the American Legion in Postville.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Orville Duvel, Ray Schara, George Wander, Robert Meyer, Peter M. Lucksinger, Dr. D. E. Tinker.
