Peter Ramlo, 69, of Bloomfield, N.J., and formerly of Decorah, died March 20, 2002 at his home of a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at the Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. James Glesne, Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Ole Winter officiating.
Organist is Kathy Murray, and soloist Roy Snyder will sing "There Will Be Peace in the Valley" and "Precious Lord." The congregation will sing "Rock of Ages."
Casketbearers are Randy Ramlo, David Ramlo, Terry Ramlo and Brenda Ramlo.
Honorary Casketbearers are Robert Ramlo and Mark Ramlo.
Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, and Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah is in charge of arrangements.
Peter Lowell Ramlo was born Aug. 2, 1932 in Decorah, the son of Howard and Gladys (Foss) Ramlo.
He was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church, and attended schools in Pleasant Township and Decorah.
He worked his way through high school and college as a clerk at Hennings Grocery Store in Decorah.
Peter Ramlo graduated from Luther College and received a master's degree from the State University of Iowa.
He became a certified public accountant, and worked as a comptroller at Ardan's in Des Moines.
Peter Ramlo moved to Bloomfield, New Jersey, where he had resided for the past 38 years.
He worked as a comptroller for Litton Industries, which was later owned by Adler Co., and then Volkswagon, where he retired.
While in partial retirement, Peter Ramlo worked for the Chron's and Colitis Foundation.
He served in the U.S. Army, primarily in France, which triggered a lifetime interest in travel abroad.
Survivors include his siblings: Bernell (Milly) Ramlo of Decorah; Clarion (Barbara) Ramlo of Oelwein and Marilyn Ramlo of Milwaukee, Wis.; six nieces and nephews; his "out-East-adopted-family," Elizabeth Harmon, her daughters Harriet Epstein and Susan Barasch, along with their family members and friends.
Peter Lowell Ramlo was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mavis and other family and friends.
A memorial service will take place later in Bloomfield, N.J.
