Manuel Brandt was burned to death when his house was destroyed by fire Monday morning. The cause of the fire will never be known. Frank Bordell discovered the Brandt place on fire about 6:30 A.M. He called neighbors and they hurried to the Brandt place, but it was too late. It was completely destroyed and in it the body of Manuel Brandt was burned almost to a crisp.
The land on which Mr. Brandt had his house was owned by Mrs. Mollie Forde and was located about a mile below the lower dam.
The funeral was held yesterday at the Canoe Ridge church. Rev. Tolo officiating. The deceased is survived by a son named Henry, and by a brother also named Henry. He was 59 years old on Sept. 26th.The Decorah Journal, December 7, 1921
