Herbert Oliver Hoover passed away Thursday, April 7, 1921, at the University Farm Hospital, at St. Paul. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoover and was born in Pleasant twp, March 21, 1897. On Sept 5, 1918, he was inducted into service. Just before embarking for France, he was striken with pneumonia and influenza. This left him in a weakened condition and his death was due to pneumonia and a weakened heart. He has been attending the vocational training school at the University Farm.
Services were held at the Hoover home at Isanti, Minn., Saturday. The American Legion at Cambridge, Minn., turned out and carried the casket to the baggage car. The remains were brot to Decorah and on Sunday were taken to the Methodist church east of Big Canoe. There the services were in charge of Rev. A.A.Stave of Newbergh, Minn., and the American Legion of Decorah. Service men from the deceased's boyhood neighborhood were pallbearers. Over the grave the military salute was fired and "Taps" were blown.
The deceased was a young man of excellent habits, of kindly disposition; He died firm in his religious faith, and leaves to mourn his departure, his father, five sisters, and three brothers.Card of Thanks
