Melvin L. Funke, 68, of Granger, MN, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Melvin was born on April 7, 1941 in Decorah, IA to Leonard and LaVonne (Emery) Funke. He grew up on the family farm, attending Harmony High School. He married Carol Hughes and had four children. They later divorced.

Melvin worked at Donaldsons in Cresco, IA for several years until he retired. During his retirement he enjoyed ATVing, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his children, Brian (Liz) Funke of Durham, Maine; Brad Funke of Rochester, MN, Susan (Kenny) Woltz of Wykoff, MN; Steve (Denise) Funke of Mantorville. Mel is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Khala and Angel Funke, Tori and Ethan Woltz, and Paige and Gryffon Funke; three siblings, Kristie Funke of Rochester, MN; Joann (Don) Radue of Kasson, MN; and Rosemary Tripp, also his girlfriend Linda Birtwistle of Granger, MN.

Cemetery:
His remains will be laid to rest next to his parents in Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, IA.

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony, MN from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009, where there will be a 2:30 p.m. scripture service. No additional services will be held.
