Jean Ellen Haugen, 78, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at her home. Funeral services are Wednesday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora, under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial is at Clay Hill Cemetery.
She was born to Ingvald and Helen Haga Erickson Sept. 4, 1938, in Decorah. She graduated from Decorah High School and married Clifford Haugen Feb. 12, 1961, at Madison Lutheran Church in Decorah.
Jean was a homemaker, and had worked as a certified nurse’s aide at several nursing homes throughout her life. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora. She enjoyed raising and riding horses in her youth, and also enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting, needle work and cooking. Jean was very involved in her church and she was a member of the Aurora Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, Jan. 5, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son, Craig D. Haugen and wife, Brenda of Lohman, Mo.; two daughters, Kristie M. Biang and husband, George of Meansville, Ga., and Paula S. Johnson and husband, Tom of Verona, Mo.; one brother, Roger Erickson and wife, Mary of Strawberry, Ariz.; two sisters, Marilyn Ellestad and husband, Lorimer of Spring Grove, Minn. and Linda Richards and husband, Alan of Sundance, Wyo.; nine grandchildren: Jacob Biang, JoHannah Biang, Erik Biang, Cole Haugen, Dane Haugen, Andy Johnson, Austin Johnson, Lacy Medlin and Page Johnson; three great-grandchildren: Olivia and Bradley Johnson and Oakley Medlin; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
