Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Bertoosa were called to Ridgeway last Friday to attend the funeral of an uncle, John Schield, who died Wednesday at the advanced age of 83 years. He had been a resident of this county over 40 years. He was a native of Switzerland.

—John Schield of Ridgeway, father of Mrs. Wenzel Toman of this city, died last week Wednesday, aged 83 years. C. F. Bartosa and wife went up Friday to attend the funeral.

The funeral of Grandpa Schield was held last Friday afternoon at the Kratz church. A son, wife and baby came from away to be present.
