Marilyn J. Dain, 87, of Rochester, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Shorewood Memory Care. A funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Avenue SE), with the Reverend Anjanette Bandel officiating. Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is at Decorah Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association and Season’s Hospice. Marilyn Joann Trytten was born July 29, 1929, in Ridgeway, to Chris and Amelia (Anderson) Trytten. Marilyn met her husband, Roland “Rollie” Dain while attending Luther College. Rollie and Marilyn were married Aug. 25, 1948, in Ridgeway. While married the couple both pursued teaching careers. Marilyn taught in Cresco for 15 years and also in Fennimore, Wis. After retirement, the couple moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, where they lived for 20 years before moving to Rochester. Rollie passed away Aug. 20, 2014. Marilyn enjoyed cooking, sewing, golfing and spending time with her family. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Laurie (Jack) Braun, of Rochester and Kristin Dain, of Dallas, Texas; a son, Bradley (Jennifer) Dain, of Guilford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Sarah (Randy) Ekenberg, of Bloomington, Minn. and Andrew (Ana) Braun, of Rochester; and one great-grandchild, Henry Ekenberg.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
