Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church for Mrs. Lars Rasmussen, 85, who died Thursday afternoon at her home on South Mill Street after a long illness.
The Rev. Alvon Nelson was in charge of the service with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Steine Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Ray Rasmussen, Lester Rasmussen, Vernon Rasmussen, Ervin Rasmussen, Marlin Rasmussen and Casper Sundby.
Organist was Mrs. Ransome Bolson with Mrs. George Rowland as soloist. Floral committee was composed of Stella Myers, Henrietta Sundby, Selma Nelson and Mae Brynsaas.
Mrs. Lars Rasmussen was born Dena Thorsen on March 5, 1874, in Pleasant Township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amaund Thorsen.
She was married to Lars Rasmussen October 30, 1900, at Decorah. He survives.
They had five daughters, Mrs. Aurella Simansky of Chicago, Mrs. James (Charlotte) Nelson, Chicago, Mrs. Donald (Sylvia) Westlake, Palatine, Ill., Mrs. Charles (Ruth) McKim, Palos Heights, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Dayton, Little Rock, Ark., and one son, Elmer, of Manchester, Iowa, all of whom survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She was affiliated with the First Lutheran Church.
