Funeral services for Lars Rasmussen, 92, of Decorah, will be held Friday, March 25, at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the church between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Rasmussen, a farmer, died Tuesday night at his home.
The Rev. Alvon Nelson will conduct the services and Steine Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Elmer of Manchester, Iowa; and five daughters, Mrs. Aurella Simansky of Chicago, Mrs. James (Charlotte) Nelson of Chicago, Mrs. Donald (Sylvia) Westlake of Palatine, Ill., Mrs. Charles (Ruth) McKim of Palos Heights, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Dayton of Little Rock, Ark.
Other survivors include six grandchildren, one brother and one sister in Norway, and another sister, Mrs. Sam Olson of Orting, Wash.
His wife, parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Rasmussen was born Aug. 14, 1867, in Bergen, Norway, the son of the late Kyrston and Olena Rasmussen. He came to this country as a young man to live in Pleasant Twp. and about 30 years ago moved to Decorah Twp. where he had lived since.
On Oct. 30, 1900, he was married to Dena Thorsen in Decorah. She died Jan 7.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers for the service will be Ray, Lester, Vernon, Ervin and Marlyn Rasmussen and Casper Sundby.
Organist will be Mrs. Ransome Bolson and soloist will be Mrs. George Rowland.
On the floral committee will be Stella Myers, Henrietta Sundby, Selma Nelson and Mae Brynsaas.
