Freda V. Struxness Jacobsen, 94, of Deborah,{sic} passed away unexpectedly Sept. 14, 2016, 15 days after the death of her husband of 72 years. The memorial service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at First Lutheran Church, Decorah. There will be a private internment. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Lutheran Church, Luther College, or Barthel Eastern Star Nursing Home, all in Decorah.

Freda was an amazing artist – both musically with her organ accomplishments, and with her wonderful painting abilities.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Edie) Jacobsen, Decorah; and daughters, Julie (Tom) Allen, St. Paul, Minn. and Karen (Paul) Hansen, Orono, Minn.; sister, Irene Sawatzky, Peoria, Ill.; and her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she loved so much.

Freda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodor; son, Mark; nine brothers and sisters; and her parents Rev. Edward and Mrs. Julia (Nash) Struxness.
