from Elma library collection assembled by Marian (Marr) McGeeFuneral services for Mabel Hermans woe held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26 at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco. The Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiated. Interment was in Eddy Cemetery in Kendallville.
Mabel, 60, died Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at her home, after struggling with cancer.
Mabel Emeline Hermans was born April 25, 1939 at Kendallville, the daughter of Willard F. and Gladys M. (Headington) Trouten. She attended the Fremont #2 school and graduated from Cresco High School. After graduation, she attended LaJames Beauty School in Mason City and then moved to Minneapolis and worked as a cashier for the Marriott at Egan, MN, and at nights was a dietary aide at the Wilder Nursing Home in St. Paul, MN.
In 1962, she married Bill Hermans in Las Vegas, NV. They were later divorced.
After Mabel got sick, she moved back to Cresco to be near her family.
Survivors include Bill Hermans; two daughters: Sheila Hermans of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Julie Jarvis of Faribault, MN; two grandchildren; three brothers: Duane of Arlington Heights, IL, Arnold of Kendallville, and Jack of Cedar Falls; and four sisters: Jean Ollendieck of Hills, Lois Ollendieck of Cresco, Martha Hruska and Mary Hovey of Kendallville.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and George.
