Funeral services for Elvin Gerber of Mason City were held Monday, September 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Rev. Frederick J. Wood officiated. Interment was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Major Erickson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Elvin, 80, died Friday, September 15, 2000 at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City.

Elvin Edward “Hans” Gerber was born January 25, 1920 at Kendallville, the son of Edward and Marie (Benson) Gerber. He attended schools in Cresco. He came to Mason City in the fall of 1948 and worked at the Kuppinger Construction Co. from 1950-51. From 1955-1980 he worked for the Andrews Concrete Company.

He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City.

On June 20, 1980 he married V. Ruth Ferrier Campbell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He helped Ruth farm for about 15 years near Rockwell and Clear Lake. Seven years ago they moved to an acreage near Mason City.

Survivors include his wife V. Ruth; one son: Jan of Omaha, NE; one daughter: Debra Marie; one sister: Dorothy Schmauss of Cresco; and one brother: Elmer of Decorah.
