Nayton "Adolph" Brenno, 100 of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Nayton Adolph Brenno was born on December 18, 1915 to John and Caroline (Anderson) Brenno in Sumner Township, Winneshiek County, rural Ridgeway, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lincoln Lutheran Church in rural Ridgeway, Iowa. He received his education in the rural schools of Sumner Township. He helped at home as well as worked for neighbors doing general labor. He was drafted into the United States Army on July 15, 1941 and served until his honorable discharge on October 5, 1945. He was deployed overseas on August 6, 1942. Adolph received many decorations and citations including the Good Conduct Medal, European American and Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, with one Silver Battle Star, six overseas service bars, and one service stripe while serving in Patton's 3rd Army. Following his discharge, Adolph worked doing trucking and hauling cream to Ridgeway creameries. For 13 years, Adolph drove a school bus for the Howard-Winneshiek School District.

On July 10, 1950 he married Irene M. Kach. Together they started farming and milking cows, and continued for 35 years. They retired and moved to Cresco, Iowa in 1988.

He was a member of the V.F.W. post 4561 and the American Legion both of Cresco. He was a life-long member of the Lincoln and Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.

Adolph is survived by two brothers, Walter (Mary) and Lester (Arlowayne), along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Janet Brenno, and an infant son at birth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the Veteran's Memorial Project in Ridgeway, Iowa.
