Marjorie Tieskotter, age 94, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. David Sorenson and Rev. Charis Combs-Lay presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Wednesday morning. There will be a VFW Auxiliary service at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Marjorie J. (Peterson) Tieskotter was born on December 13, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Hattie (Dinger) Peterson in Canoe Township, rural Decorah, IA. Marjorie attended rural country schools in Pleasant Township. She worked at Decorah Produce and cleaned homes. She was united in marriage to Irvin Tieskotter on October 18, 1941 in Prairie Du Chien, WI, by Rev. Norbert Miller. Marjorie also was the bookkeeper for the family business, Tieskotter Oil for 40 plus years. Marjorie enjoyed playing cards, embroidering, fishing and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church, the Ladies Circle and the VFW Auxiliary.

Marjorie is survived by her four children: Shirley (Jay) Usgaard, Des Moines, IA; Carolyn Walter, Grinnell, IA; Marcia (James) Hoffman, Perry, IA; and Bill (friend, BarbMahr) Tieskotter, Decorah, IA, along with seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim) Dillman, Susan (Greg) Shipman, Traci Walter Latham, Kelli (Darrin) Day, Zachary (Danielle) Hoffman, Jacob (Bridgette) Hoffman and Sarah Hoffman. Fourteen great grandchildren: Matt Dillman, Josh Dillman, Emily Dillman, Gabe Dillman, Taylor Latham, Emma Day, Noah Hoffman, Noel Hoffman, Caleb Hoffman, Isaac Hoffman, Jory Hoffman, Oliver Hoffman, Andraya Shipman and Layton Shipman. Two sisters: Eunice Dillman, Des Moines, IA, and Frances (Bill) Byrnes, Waukon, IA. One sister-in-law: Vi Palmer, Decorah, IA.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Hattie (Dinger) Peterson. Her husband: Irvin Tieskotter in Nov. 1990. One son-in-law: Bill Walter. One sister in infancy. One brother: Leo (Della) Peterson. One sister: Arleen (Bob) Hanson. Brothers-in-law: Jake Dillman, Clair Palmer and Ed (Arletta) Tieskotter. Sister-in-law: Rosie (Olger) Rosendahl.
