Cordelia Ann Dawley Curtis, 71, went to be with her Heavenly Father April 12, 2016. A memorial service to celebrate Cordelia’s life was April 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle in Murphy, Idaho.
Cordelia Ann was born April 30, 1944, to Jesse and Cecelia (Baker) Dawley in Decorah. She grew up in Northeast Iowa and graduated from Decorah High School in the class of 1962. Cordelia was united in marriage to Keith Edwin Curtis Aug. 7, 1966. They were blessed with eight children. She loved to read her Bible, teach Sunday school, play piano and sing, garden, sew and bake for her family. She was known for her cookies and cinnamon bread, and she loved to make everyone’s favorites. Cordelia loved poems and little sayings. She was often quoting a verse or a line from a poem to uplift you. As a housewife, daycare provider, and personal healthcare giver, Cordelia has touched lives in every town she has lived in, Fredricksburg, Melbourne and Nampa, Idaho.
Cordelia is survived by her husband, Keith Curtis (Nampa) and eight children: Charlene West of Council Bluffs, Jonathan Curtis (Becky) of Decorah, James Curtis (Gladys) of Nevada, Sarah Kielman (Derrick) of Melbourne, Justin Curtis (Melissa) of Gilman, Sharon Mortensen (Nicholas) of Boise, Idaho, Annette Mather (Robert) of Sparks, Nev. and Phillip Curtis (Elisabeth) of Nampa, Idaho; four sisters: Donna Reinertson (David) and Lona Curtis (Kenneth) both of Nampa, Idaho, Lois Wermager (David) of Melbourne, LaVonne Kocourek (Brian) of Lebanon, Ohio; and two brothers, Nathan Dawley (Jacque) and Timothy Dawley both of Decorah. Cordelia’s legacy includes many grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Sunday school and daycare children, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herbert Dawley; granddaughter, Kaitlin West; and son-in-law, Michael West.
