Karla J. Hanson, 39, of Decorah, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Susan Debner officiating.
Organist was Laurie Biedermann and soloist Paul Casterton sang "The Lord’s Prayer."
Congregational hymns were "On Eagle’s Wings," "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."
Casketbearers were Bob Bappe, Greg Frana, Doug Frana, Les Frana, Ron Monroe, Larry Corrigan, Dave Steffen, Gordon Tangen and Mark Bockman.
Interment was in Pontoppidan Cemetery, rural Decorah, and Schluter-Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.
Karla Jean (Frana) Hanson was born December 5, 1963, the daughter of David and Marie (Holten) Frana in Decorah.
She attended Decorah Community Schools, graduating in 1982.
She married Darryl Hanson May 28, 1983 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. They lived in Dallas, Texas for one year, and she worked as a secretary at an advertising company. They returned to Decorah and she attended NICC in Calmar.
Karla Hanson then worked as a nurse’s aide at the Eastern Star Nursing Home at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility. For over the last 15 years, she has worked as secretary at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility.
Karla Hanson was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband: Darryl Hanson, Decorah; one daughter: Megan and one son: Cody, both at home; her parents: David and Marie Frana, Decorah; three sisters: Cathy Hollingsworth and husband Paul, Winterset, Iowa; Trudy Peterson and husband Dennis, Decorah and Sheila Frana and husband Mongkol Saumsilisup of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers: Kevin "Neb" Frana and wife Jill, Decorah and Keith "Putt" Frana, Denver Colo.; her father and mother-in-law: Jim and Betty Hanson, Decorah; two brothers-in-law: David Hanson and wife Carol and Doug Hanson, both of Decorah; Darryl’s grandmother: Esther Thompson, Decorah; 16 nieces and nephews and two great-nieces.
Karla Jean (Frana) Hanson was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Frana, and her grandparents: Martin and Alma Holten, Frank and Regina Frana, Arnold Thompson and Emil and Melia Hanson.
