Wm Wenthold Is Gored To Death
William Wenthold was killed suddenly at his farm home near Festina Saturday afternoon when a mad bull gored him. Mr. Wenthold was putting the cattle in the barn when the bull attacked him and pinned him to the ground. He was dead when they found him.
He was born in Ossian, Ia., July 12, 1867 and attended St. Mary’s school. He was married to Frances Mehs October 20, 1891 at St. Mary’s Catholic church.
He is survived by his wife and six children, they are: Henry Wenthold and Theodore Wenthold, of Festina; Mrs. Roy Kleve, of Calmar; Sister Mary Albertson, O. P., of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. John Buchheit and Miss Regina Wenthold of Festina. He was preceded in death by four children. Three died in infancy and a son, Raymond, died in 1925. A brother, Barney Wenthold and a sister, Mrs. Fred Hageman, also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Festina. The Rev. A. J. Rubly officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Theodore Schrandt, Ray Bushman, Frank Massmann, Hubert Buchheit, Ervin Miller, Eugene Berns and Charles McElroy.
Those from a distance who attended were Sister Mary Albertson, O. P., of Detroit, Michigan and her companion, Sister Mary Eustace from Racine, Wisconsin.
