Mrs. Holthaus 68 Of Festina Dies

Mrs. Caroline Holthaus, 68, passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital in New Hampton Monday following an operation. The deceased was born near Festina Oct. 30, 1864. She was the daughter of Henry and Helena Kleisart, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Cremer, Festina, Mrs. Felix Hageman, Calmar, four sons, Rev. H. A. Holthaus, Independence, Joseph, Felix and Gus, Festina, also two sisters, Sr. M. Veronica of Coon Rapids, Sr. M. Evangelista of La Crosse, two brothers, H. T. Kleisart of Ossian and John Kleisart of Pennsylvania. Her husband, August Holthaus, died in 1916. The deceased was also a member of the Rosary Society. A Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated Wednesday noon at 9:30 in St. Mary’s church by her son, Rev. H. A. Holthaus of Independence, assisted by Rev. Joseph Zeyen of Dubuque, deacon; Rev. Urban Bucheit of Winona, Minn., subdeacon; Rev. A. J. Rubly, parish pastor, master of ceremonies. Other priests in the sanctuary were: Rev. J. O’Donnell, Lawler, Rev. J. Naebers, Barcley; Rev. M. Toomey, West Union; Rev. J. Hogan, Postville; Rev. J. McCaffery, Clermont; Rev. J. White, St. Lucas; Rev. T. Dowling, New Hampton; Rev. J. Erdland, Nashua; Rev. B. H. Forkenbrock, New Hampton; Rev. J. Mauer, Balltown; Rev. J. Moenster, New Hampton; Rev. J. Byrnes, Winthrop; Rev. Wm. Marins, Farley. Relatives out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Untereiner, Jos. Untereiner, Dimock, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kabeiseman, Elisabeth Kabeiseman, Yankton, S. D., Wm. Kabeiseman, Mrs. Mary Behrend, Parkston, S. D., Clem Holthaus, Carroll, Albert Michaels and Loretta Michaels of Eau Claire, Wis., Miss Adelaide Klauer of Farley, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Kleisart of West Bend, Mr. and Mrs. John Rader of Protivin, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Cremer of Dyersville, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Kleisart and daughters of Ossian, Mr. and Mrs. Mat Pitzenberger, Mr and Mrs. Alf Bucheit of Ft. Atkinson, John Giesing and sister Christena of Cresco, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bucheit of Calmar.
