Roland Burr funeral held here Saturday

Funeral services for Roland Lester Burr were held Saturday at the United Methodist church with the Rev. Wayne Wasta officiating. Burial was in the New Oregon cemetery with the Bradley-Lindstrom Funeral home in charge of arrangements. He died January 19 at the Reutlinger Care Center at the age of 84.
Mr. Burr was born Feb. 23, 1892 in Winneshiek county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russ Burr. As a boy he attended rural schools in Winneshiek county. On Nov. 24, 1915, he was united in marriage to Emma Smith. She died in October, 1956. He later married Mrs. Fannie Schaefer on April 20, 1961, and she died in June 1971. He farmed in Winneshiek county until 1961 and then moved to Cresco.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Frank, Roy and William; and a sister Grace; and both of his wives. He is survived by his daughter Mrs. Marvin (Ruth) Gesell of Cresco; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
