Decorah, Ia. – Jan. 19 – Special: James Severtsgaard was killed Saturday afternoon about 5 o’clock when the automobile he was driving left the road and turned over in the ditch.
The accident occurred about five miles north of Decorah on the middle Hesper Road.

Severtsgaard was returning from Decorah to his home and was within a short distance of the house when his car went into the ditch. His small son, who was with him at the time, was uninjured, and it was the boy who went to the neighbors with the news of the accident. Severtsgaard died just as the neighbors reached the car. The steering wheel is said to have pierced his chest.

Mr. Severtsgaard, who is 40 years old, leaves a wife and seven children. No arrangements have been made for the funeral.
