Calmar- Funeral services for Torkel Ramberg, 95, Calmar's oldest resident, will be held here Friday afternoon at the Lutheran Church with the Rev. H. A. Preus, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ramberg died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Congdon, following a week's illness when he suffered an asthma attack. Up to the time of his death he was able to read his newspapers without glasses.
He was born June 25, 1845, in Tilmarken, Norway, and he came to America when 19 years old, settling in Winneshiek County. He farmed for a time and later he moved to Calmar where he followed the carpenter trade. He was married Oct. 25, 1873, to Gunhilde Knonaas, who preceded him in death 15 years ago.
Surviving are four children: Mrs. Henry Johnson and Mrs. S. N. Sagen, both of Mason City; Hans of Gilmore, N.D., and Mrs. Congdon; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
