Victoria “Vicky” Christopher, age 79, of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, November 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, 302 West Broadway, Decorah, IA, with Rev. John Caldwell presiding. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, and also after 9:30 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning.

Victoria Romo (Moreno) Christopher was born on August 24, 1936, the daughter of Enrique and Natalia (Romo) Moreno, in Monterrey, Mexico. She attended school in Monterrey and then worked at a general store. Vicky met her future husband Harold Christopher in Monterrey while he was doing mission work. They were married on June 1, 1957, at a church in Monterrey that Harold had helped build. They moved back to Bluffton shortly after their wedding. She and Harold went to McAllen, Texas every winter to be closer to her family and to avoid the cold winter weather, resulting in children born in Mexico, Texas and Iowa. Vicky was a homemaker and was a stay at home mom. She later worked in private home health care helping elderly families. Vicky enjoyed flowers, quilting and making homemade tortillas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and baking for them. She loved to sing and was strong in her Christian faith. Vicky was a loving caring person who was loved by many.

Vicky is survived by her six children: Timon (Laurie) Christopher, Decorah, IA; Marcos (Heather) Christopher, Moody, MO; Eunice (Steve Hamilton) Christopher, Decorah, IA; Noe (Tiffanie) Christopher, Stevensville, MT; Elizabeth (Brian) Feuerhelm, Lansing, IA; and Esther Christopher Kuhn, Decorah, IA. Twenty-four grandchildren: Lee (Cherry) Christopher, Dexter (Abby) Christopher, Adam Christopher; Andrew, Ethan, Ania, Caleb, Joseph, Ellie and Emily Christopher; Dan (Melinda) Christopher, Steven (Kelli) Christopher, Dillon, Austin, Logan and Rylyn Christopher; Derek and Matthew Whittle, Blake, Austin and Hannah Feuerhelm; Justin Ryan, Danielle Christopher and Kylie Kuhn. Eleven great grandchildren: Mercedes, Paris, Austin, Cecelia, Ruby, Haley, Desirae, Taylor, Autumn, Olivia and Ella. One brother: Noe (Aurora) Moreno, Monterrey, Mexico. Two nieces: Lidia (Jesus) Velazquez and Maria Magdalena (Mauro) Coronado. One great niece: Lidi Adriana Velazquez. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Fred (Rosetta) Christopher, Powderville, MT; Shirley Christopher, Bluffton, IA; Rosemary Christopher, Cresco, IA; Karl Jr. (Diane) Christopher, Hesper, IA; and Faye (Walt) Marlow, Bluffton, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents: Enrique and Natalia (Romo) Moreno. Her husband: Harold Christopher. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Karl and Veta (Davis) Christopher. Four brothers and sisters-in-law: Lawrence (June), Francis (Helen), Carsten (Siene) and Darwin Christopher.
