JOHN BENJAMIN HAGER 1902-1921

Death of Exemplary Young Man

John Benjamin Hager, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hager, was born in Ludlow township, March 22, 1902. On the 22nd day of April that year he was received under the care and fellowship of the Bethlehem church through baptism. He resided in Ludlow during the days of his early boyhood under the care of his beloved parents and attended school and Sunday school until his parents moved from the farm to Frankville. From that time on he attended Sunday school and church at Frankville and also received further education in the public school. Since his manner of life is known to all here there is no need to dwell on that, knowing that the Lord is the only judge who will make no mistake.

About 12 days ago a severe and strange sickness befell him which progressed against his life, terminating in death on Oct. 31, 1921, at the age of 19 years, 7 months and 9 days. He leaves to mourn his early death his parents, six brothers, four sisters, four sistersinlaw (sic), four brothersinlaw (sic), and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Community church in Frankville, conducted by Rev. Ratz of the East Ludlow Bethlehem church, assisted by Rev. Peck, the local pastor. Six young men, members of his Sunday school class, acted as pall bearers and eight young ladies carried the flowers. Interment was made in the Bethlehem cemetery in East Ludlow.
