Don Symonds, age 90, of Decorah, IA, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Aase Haugen Senior Services, Decorah, IA.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2015, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Richard Simon Hanson presiding. Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, IA, with military honors by the Decorah Veterans Groups.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Monday afternoon at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.

Don is survived by his cousin: Judy (Ray) Kalec, Calmar, IA, and her children: Jodie Pettit, Portland, OR; Steve (Kim) Pettit, Lakeville, MN; and Jennifer Robinson, Plymouth, MN, and their families. One sister-in-law: Lillian Ladwig, Cresco, IA, along with a host of cousins and relatives, as well as Marian’s special nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Kate Symonds. His wife: Marian (Ladwig) Symonds on Nov. 11, 2007. Two brothers killed during World War ll, Henry Hugo and Robert Symonds. Two sisters: Zoe (Reginald) Figge and Barbara Symonds in infancy.
