ALLEN RITESFuneral services were held here Thursday afternoon at the community Church for George Allen, a long time resident of this community. The Rev. Robert Reynolds officiated. Mrs. Roger Sampson and Mrs. Leonard Crawford sang, accompanied by Mrs. Leslie Laterman. Interment was made in the Frankville cemetery.
George Franklin Allen was born December 17, 1882, to Edward and Melissa (Cooly) Allen in Frankville township, Winneshiek county.
On December 17, 1902 he was united in marriage to Elsie Duff. This union was blessed with eight children: Mrs. Henry Schweinefus (Bernice); Mrs. George Hougen (Blanche) of Benecia, California; Mrs. Rueben Monroe (June); Mrs. Elmer Vine (Mabel); Mrs. Orville Ruen (Geneva); and a son Leslie Allen of Frankville. Twenty-four grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. George Crabtree of Waterloo and Mrs. Lee Wheeler of Galesburg, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Gerrine and son, Leonard.
