RITES HELD FOR JOHN WANDER

Funeral services were held Friday, August 14, 1964, 11:00 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian, for John G. Wander of Castalia, who passed on August 11, 1964. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. V. J. Peters conducted the rites; burial was in the church cemetery.

John G. Wander was born November 17, 1869 in Clayton county, the son of George and Frances Light Wander. He died at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at 11:00 p.m. on August 11, following a short illness.

He was married to Christina Michael at Clermont in 1904. She preceded him in death in 1949. The deceased attended rural schools and lived around the Castalia area for 48 years. He lived 11 years in Ossian and the last two years with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Schweinefus.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one son, Lloyd; three brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by four sons, Joseph of Clermont, Jacob of Elgin, and Philip and George of Castalia; one daughter, Mrs. LaVern Schweinefus of Castalia; three sisters, Mrs. Esther Brause and Mrs. Selma Randall of West Union, and Mrs. Emma Gordon of Postville; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
