RITES HELD FOR MRS. WM. SCHAVEThe Rev. Arthur J. Tolo conducted funeral services Monday, Feb. 9, 1970 at Castalia Zion Lutheran Church for Mrs. William F. Schave who died Feb. 6, 1970 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, following a lingering illness.
Caroline Dorothy Charlotte Schave was born May 9, 1889, near Postville, the daughter of William and Louise Schroeder Fischer. She attended the rural school of the Postville Junction area.
On Nov. 25, 1910 she was united in marriage to William Fred Schave in Postville. They observed their Golden Wedding anniversary Nov. 25, 1960 at the Castalia Zion Lutheran Church. Except for 16 years at Rockwell in Cerro Gordo County, Mr. and Mrs. Schave's entire home life was spent in the Castalia community. In 1967 they became residents of the Ossian Senior Hospice, moving in 1969 to the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
July 21, 1889 she was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and confirmed there April 3, 1903.
Mrs. Schave was a member of the Castalia Zion Lutheran Church, the Mary Martha Circle and was Cradle Roll Mother for many years.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, 1919; one son, Harvey, 1956; three brothers, Fred, 1945; Martin, 1946 and Emil, 1966 and one sister Esther, Mrs. Delbert Updegraff, 1945.
She is survived by her husband, five children, Mrs. Roland (Loretta) Heidemann of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Glen (Vera) Pixler of Luana; Clarence of Luana; Glen of Postville and Virgil of Moline, Illinois. Also two brothers William of [Janesville], Wisconsin and Henry of Ossian; two sisters, Mrs. Harley (Louise) Fuller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Mrs. George (Emma) Lundt of Oelwein. There are 17 surviving grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.
