Decorah- Mrs. Eva Wicks, 82, died Wednesday in a Decorah hospital following an illness of four days.
The former Eva Burroughs was born Aug. 11, 1867, in Burr Oak, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burroughs, early Winneshiek county pioneers. She married Edward N. Wicks Oct. 1, 1888, and with him farmed near Burr Oak. Later they retired and moved to Decorah, where Wicks died in 1939.
She is survived by four sons, Claude, Burr Oak, Robert, Dubuque, Cecil, Davenport, and Roy, Decorah; and one daughter, Mrs. Hartvig Engebretson, Decorah. Mrs. Wicks was the last surviving member of the Burroughs family.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Advent Christian church of Burr Oak, and burial will be in the village cemetery.
