Decorah- Funeral services for George M. Beer, 77, were conducted by the Rev. Floyd H. Weed Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Olson-Iverson Funeral Home and burial was in Phelps cemetery. Beer died Jan. 5, in Austin, Minn., where he had made his home with a daughter the past three months.
He was born Aug. 6, 1872, in Oberfahes, Bavaria, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beer, with whom he came to America when he was 11 years old. Most of his life was spent in Decorah. On July 4, 1898, at Prairie du Chien (Wis.) he married Mary Ann Sieber, who died in 1911. On Sept. 17, 1918, he married Julia Morris, who died in 1941.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. A. M. Frey of Charles City and Mrs. Bernetta Nelson, Austin, Minn.; and a son George, also of Austin. Surviving stepchildren are Mrs. Albert Johnson Mrs. Bert Coonradt and Mrs. Percy Blount, Decorah; Jack and Tom Morris, Milwaukee; Lester Morris, Dubuque, and Albert Morris of Brisbane, Calif. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 28 step-grandchildren.
