"Papa Lou" Gilster was born in Iowa. A disabled veteran of Naval Service, met and married his bride Mary in California. He raised his family in Iowa, Texas, Illinois, and Nebraska as the meat packing industry took them to many states. He was very active in church and devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed fishing, handy man work, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. He is finally home.
Preceded in death by parents, Earl and Grace Gilster and granddaughter, baby Skylar Madison Gilster.
Survived by wife, Mary; children, Dan (Teresa) Gilster, Dawn Ann Boll (Merle Blum), and David (Melanie) Gilster; grandchildren, Kastle and Heavyn Gilster; brother, Donald (Darlene) Gilster; sister, Anita Gilster.
Visitation Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 4-8PM with family receiving friends from 6-8PM at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral Service Wednesday at 10AM, also at the funeral home. Interment at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park. A reception will follow after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Redeemer Church, 13831 Industrial Rd, Millard, NE 68137.
