Clarabelle Taylor, age 77, of Spillville died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at her home in Spillville, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 207 Church Street, Spillville, IA, and also after 10:00 a.m., on Saturday morning at the church.

Clarabelle Ann (Hackman) Taylor was born on May 7, 1937, the daughter of Carl and Matilda (Schmitt) Hackman near St. Lucas, IA. Clarabelle attended St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas. She was united in marriage to Howard Taylor on May 31, 1955 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. They farmed near Fort Atkinson for many years and then moved to Spillville. After they raised their eleven children, she extended their family by opening the doors of the Taylor Made Bed and Breakfast for an additional 20 years. There was always a welcoming aroma of fresh baked kolaches as she greeted you with a smile. Over those years, she also opened her heart and home to many strangers who quickly became her friends. Clarabelle lived her life as God intended and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and daily acts of kindness. She touched the hearts of many and will be truly missed by all. Clarabelle was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville.

Clarabelle is survived by her husband: Howard Taylor, Spillville, IA. Eleven children: Howard (Laura) Taylor, Jr., Fort Atkinson, IA; Marilyn (Arnold) Huinker, Lakeville, MN; Dale Taylor, Tempe, AZ; Kay (Kent) Homnick, Pawley’s Island, SC; Lyle (Suzanne), Spring Valley, MN; Joe (Christa) Taylor, Fort Atkinson, IA; Diane (Steve) Snyder, Lanesboro, MN; Dennis (Sarah) Taylor, Fort Atkinson, IA; Linda (Mark) Kuennen, Festina, IA; Michael Taylor, Spillville, IA; and Kevin Taylor, Rochester, MN. Thirty-one grandchildren: Miranda (Jon) Hayek, Renee (Robert) Welter, Heather (Brandon) DeSotel, Vanessa Taylor, Kristin (Mark) Olmstead, Kari (Dan) Gerhart, Bryan (Rachel) Huinker, Holly,Jackson, Madison and Carson Homnick, Michael, Nicholas and Megan Taylor, Tracy (Nate) Leistikow, Tiffany, Felicity, Zachary and Kayley Taylor, Madeline, Emily, Benjamin and Isaac Snyder, Theo and Quinten Taylor, Morgan, Blake and Nathan Kuennen, Carter, Dylan and Austin Taylor. Sixteen Great grandchildren: Brynlee, Brody and Brogan Hayek, Connor and Nolan Welter, Abagail, Olivia and Jameson DeSotel, Alexis, Brooklyn and Olivia Olmstead, Ella, Claire and Carver Leistikow, KingSton and Tiarra Taylor. Two sisters: Alberta (LaVerne) Bouska, Lawler, IA; and Jeanette (Elmer) Buchheit, Ossian, IA and sister-in-law: Mary Ann Hackman, Decorah, IA, Arlene Klimesh, Decorah, IA, and Camilla Taylor, New Hampton, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Clarabelle was preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Mathilda (Schmitt) Hackman. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Christina (Jarosh) Taylor. One brother: George Hackman. Two sisters: Arlene Bouska and Ann Hackman. Brothers-in-law: Cliff Bouska, Richard Taylor, Louis Loesch, Larry Frana and Stanley Klimesh. Sisters-in-law: Angie Loesch and Harriet Frana. One great grandson: Michael Joseph Leistikow
