MERLIN LOUIS KOENIG
Funeral services for Merlin L. Koenig, 55, were held Monday, Nov. 24, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Castalia. The Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiated assisted by the Rev. David Ash. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.
Merlin Louis Koenig, son of William C. and Emma (Schroeder) Koenig, was born July 13, 1925 on a farm near Castalia. He died Nov. 21, 1980 at his home near Decorah.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and attended the Oak Hill rural school. Nov. 3, 1945 he was married to Patricia Albright. They farmed on the family farm until about seven years ago when they moved to rural Decorah. He was employed at Cam Car and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Castalia.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Randy. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Darwin of Montezuma, Iowa and Paul, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Cynthia) Gardner of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. David (Donna) Balk of Waterloo; three grandsons; a brother, Orville of Castalia; and three sisters, Mrs. Reuben (Charlotte) Henning of Decorah, Mrs. Judd (Chrystal) Longerbeam of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Ray (Marian) Shafer of Waukon.
